SYNOPSIS:Joseph comes out and carries on the story of his youth.

0
(Joseph)
I closed my eyes, drew back the curtain
To see for certain what I thought I knew
Far far away, someone was weeping
But the world was sleeping
Any dream will do
0
(Joseph & Children)
I wore my coat, with golden lining
Bright colours shining, wonderful and new
And in the east, the dawn was breaking
And the world was waking
Any dream will do
0
(Joseph)
A crash of drums, a flash of light
My golden coat flew out of sight
The colours faded into darkness
I was left alone
0
(Joseph & Children)
May I return to the beginning
The light is dimming, and the dream is too
The world and I, we are still waiting
Still hesitating
Any dream will do

SYNOPSIS:A narrator tells us we are about to hear the story of a person like any one of us - a dreamer - whose dreams came true.

0
(Narrator)
Some folks dream of the wonders they'll do
Before their time on this planet is through
Some just don't have anything planned
They hide their hopes and their heads in the sand

Now I don't say who is wrong, who is right
But if by chance you are here for the night
Then all I need is an hour or two
To tell the tale of a dreamer like you
0
We all dream a lot -
some are lucky, some are not
But if you think it, want it, dream it, then it's real
You are what you feel
0
But all that I say can be told another way
In the story of a boy whose dream came true
And he could be you

Lesson For The Week (Apr. 28)

Jesus Walks on the Water
"Don't be afraid," Jesus told them, "it is I!" (John 6:20)

Bible Reading (John 6:15~21, Matthew 14:22~33)

John 6:15~21
15 Jesus knew that they were about to come and seize him in order to make him king by force; so he went off again to the hills by himself. 16 When evening came, Jesus’ disciples went down to the lake, 17 got into a boat, and went back across the lake toward Capernaum. Night came on, and Jesus still had not come to them. 18 By then a strong wind was blowing and stirring up the water. 19 The disciples had rowed about three or four miles when they saw Jesus walking on the water, coming near the boat, and they were terrified. 20 “Don’t be afraid,” Jesus told them, “it is I!” 21 Then they willingly took him into the boat, and immediately the boat reached land at the place they were heading for.

Matthew 14:22~33
22 Then Jesus made the disciples get into the boat and go on ahead to the other side of the lake, while he sent the people away. 23 After sending the people away, he went up a hill by himself to pray. When evening came, Jesus was there alone; 24 and by this time the boat was far out in the lake, tossed about by the waves, because the wind was blowing against it. 25 Between three and six o’clock in the morning Jesus came to the disciples, walking on the water. 26 When they saw him walking on the water, they were terrified. “It’s a ghost!” they said, and screamed with fear. 27 Jesus spoke to them at once. “Courage!” he said. “It is I. Don’t be afraid!” 28 Then Peter spoke up. “Lord, if it is really you, order me to come out on the water to you.” 29 “Come!” answered Jesus. So Peter got out of the boat and started walking on the water to Jesus. 30 But when he noticed the strong wind, he was afraid and started to sink down in the water. “Save me, Lord!” he cried. 31 At once Jesus reached out and grabbed hold of him and said, “ What little faith you have! Why did you doubt?” 32 They both got into the boat, and the wind died down. 33 Then the disciples in the boat worshiped Jesus. “Truly you are the Son of God!” they exclaimed.

Bible Story Related Musical - Joseph

Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat
0
I meant to start it earlier, but… = (
Anyway, I think this is a great musical, and I just want to share it with you! This musical is about the story of Joseph from the Old Testament. My goal is to put all the songs here, and introduce them to you. But since I’m now in my midterm week, I’ll do this later.
If you are interested in this musical, you can go to this website.
http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio2/shows/paige/
The show is called Elaine Paige on Sunday, playing songs from movies and musicals. And this week’s essential musical happens to be Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat. You can click “listen again” and listen this week’s show again before Sunday night. Have a great week and have fun!
Now here are some background information about the show:
0
Music: Andrew Lloyd Webber
Lyrics: Tim Rice
History:
In the summer of 1967, Andrew Lloyd Webber was asked by Alan Doggett, head of the Music department at his brother's school, to write a 'pop cantata' for the school choir to sing at their Easter concert. Andrew asked Tim Rice if he would write the lyrics and Tim suggested the story of Joseph. The very first performance of 'Joseph...' was only 20 minutes long and took place
on the 1st March 1968 at the Old Assembly Hall in Hammersmith. It was a big success and several other performances were arranged, including one at St Paul 's Cathedral which was recorded and released as an album in 1969. Andrew and Tim worked on other projects including 'Jesus Christ Superstar' whilst the popularity of 'Joseph' built in schools in the UK and in America. In September 1972 Gary Bond starred as Joseph in a production at the Edinburgh Festival, and the show had its first major production in its present from at the Haymarket Theatre in Leicester in 1975. 'Joseph' opened on Broadway at the Royale Theatre in January 1982, and in 1991, opened at the London Palladium starring Jason Donovan. This version of the show ran for 2 and a half years and was seen by over 2 million people. It went on to tour the UK, the USA, Canada and Australia. In 1999 the production was filmed with an all star cast including Donny Osmond, Joan Collins and Richard Attenborough. Today there are nearly 500 school or amateur productions of 'Joseph' each year in the UK alone. It is estimated that the show has been performed in nearly 20,000 schools or local theatres with an audience of over 9 million people.

Lesson For The Week (Apr. 14)

Jesus Feeds Five Thousand
Jesus took the bread, gave thanks to God, and distributed it to the people who were sitting there. He did the same with the fish, and they all had as much as they wanted. (John 6:11)

Bible Reading (John 6:1~15)

1 After this, Jesus went across Lake Galilee (or, Lake Tiberias, as it is also called). 2 A large crowd followed him, because they had seen his miracles of healing the sick. 3 Jesus went up a hill and sat down with his disciples. 4 The time for the Passover Festival was near. 5 Jesus looked around and saw that a large crowd was coming to him, so he asked Philip, “Where can we buy enough food to feed all these people?” 6 (He said this to test Philip; actually he already knew what he would do.) 7 Philip answered, “For everyone to have even a little, it would take more than two hundred silver coins to buy enough bread.” 8 Another one of his disciples, Andrew, who was Simon Peter’s brother, said, 9 “There is a boy here who has five loaves of barley bread and two fish. But they will certainly not be enough for all these people.” 10 “Make the people sit down,” Jesus told them. (There was a lot of grass there.) So all the people sat down; there were about five thousand men. 11 Jesus took the bread, gave thanks to God, and distributed it to the people who were sitting there. He did the same with the fish, and they all had as much as they wanted. 12 When they were all full, he said to his disciples, “Gather the pieces left over; let us not waste a bit.” 13 So they gathered them all and filled twelve baskets with the pieces left over from the five barley loaves which the people had eaten. 14 Seeing this miracle that Jesus had performed, the people there said, “Surely this is the Prophet who was to come into the world!” 15 Jesus knew that they were about to come and seize him in order to make him king by force; so he went off again to the hills by himself.

Lesson For The Week (Apr. 7)

Jesus’ Claim Supported by Four Witnesses
You like to receive praise from one another, but you do not try to win praise from the one who alone is God; how, then, can you believe me? (John 5:44)

Bible Reading (John 5:30~47)

30 “I can do nothing on my own authority; I judge only as God tells me, so my judgment is right, because I am not trying to do what I want, but only what he who sent me wants. 31 If I testify on my own behalf, what I say is not to be accepted as real proof. 32 But there is someone else who testifies on my behalf, and I know that what he says about me is true. 33 John is the one to whom you sent your messengers, and he spoke on behalf of the truth. 34 It is not that I must have a human witness; I say this only in order that you may be saved. 35 John was like a lamp, burning and shining, and you were willing for a while to enjoy his light. 36 But I have a witness on my behalf which is even greater than the witness that John gave: What I do, that is, the deeds my Father gave me to do, these speak on my behalf and show that the Father has sent me. 37 And the Father, who sent me, also testifies on my behalf. You have never heard his voice or seen his face, 38 and you do not keep his message in your hearts, for you do not believe in the one whom he sent. 39 You study the Scriptures, because you think that in them you will find eternal life. And these very Scriptures speak about me! 40 Yet you are not willing to come to me in order to have life. 41 “I am not looking for human praise. 42 But I know what kind of people you are, and I know that you have no love for God in your hearts. 43 I have come with my Father’s authority, but you have not received me; when, however, someone comes with his own authority, you will receive him. 44 You like to receive praise from one another, but you do not try to win praise from the one who alone is God; how, then, can you believe me? 45 Do not think, however, that I am the one who will accuse you to my Father. Moses, in whom you have put your hope, is the very one who will accuse you. 46 If you had really believed Moses, you would have believed me, because he wrote about me. 47 But since you do not believe what he wrote, how can you believe what I say?”

Yet as close to you as a friend.
A precious commodity, freely given.
Seen on the dead and on the living.
Found on the rich, poor, short and tall,
